Short answer: Good eSIM support is mostly prevention: check device compatibility before the sale, send clear install instructions, and tell customers when to switch the line on. With the eSIM Signal partner programme you can look up any eSIM by ICCID or your own customer_ref, sell top-ups, refund never-installed eSIMs to your balance within the refund window, and get help from a named account manager when you need it.
Why support decides whether resellers grow
Selling an eSIM takes a minute. The customer's experience happens days later, often at an airport, sometimes at night, and usually on a phone they have never configured for dual SIM. If that moment goes well, they buy again and recommend you. If it goes badly, you get a refund request and a bad review.
The good news is that eSIM problems are repetitive. The same handful of causes account for most tickets, which means a short playbook and the right tools can keep your support load small even as volume grows.
Prevent tickets before the sale
- Check the device. An eSIM only works on an eSIM-capable, carrier-unlocked phone. Link to a compatibility check on your checkout page, or point customers to our public devices page while you build your own.
- Sell the right size. Undersized plans create "my data ran out" tickets. Add simple guidance — light, normal, heavy use — next to your packages.
- Explain activation timing. Customers worry they will lose days by installing early. Tell them clearly: install at home on Wi-Fi, keep the line off, switch it on at the destination.
Make the install moment easy
Every order returns the ICCID, the activation code, a QR code and a one-tap install link. Use all of them:
- One-tap install link for customers buying on the phone they will travel with. It opens a neutral install page with no eSIM Signal branding.
- QR code for customers buying on a laptop. You can brand it with your colour and logo, with a live preview in the Business Panel, so it looks like your product.
- Manual activation code as a fallback for phones that will not scan.
Send all three in the same email, with three short lines: install on Wi-Fi, turn the line on when you land, enable data roaming on the eSIM line only.
Tip: put your support channel in the delivery email itself. A customer stuck at arrivals will not search your website for a contact form.
The five tickets you will see most
- "It's installed but there's no internet." Usually data roaming is off on the eSIM line, or the phone is still using the home SIM for mobile data.
- "The QR code won't scan." Send the one-tap link or the manual code.
- "My data ran out." Offer a top-up rather than a new eSIM.
- "I deleted the eSIM." Explain that a deleted profile usually cannot be reinstalled, and treat it case by case.
- "I didn't travel after all." If the eSIM was never installed, a refund may be possible.

Top-ups: the support ticket that becomes a sale
Running out of data is the most common request, and also the most profitable one to solve. Through the REST API you can list available top-ups with GET /esims/{iccid}/topups and apply one with POST /esims/{iccid}/topup, so your app or website can offer a top-up button on the customer's own order page. Partners without an integration can do the same from the Business Panel. The customer keeps the same eSIM — nothing to reinstall.
Refunds: know the rules before customers ask
An eSIM that was never installed can be refunded to your partner balance within the refund window. Installed or used eSIMs cannot be refunded. Mirror that in your own terms of sale so customers know where they stand, and decide whether you want to offer customer refunds at all. Refunds are available in the Business Panel and through the API's refunds scope.
Use webhooks to stay a step ahead
Signed webhooks (verified with HMAC-SHA256 in the X-ESIMSIGNAL-Signature header) tell your system when something changes: order.completed, order.failed, order.refunded, esim.activated and esim.expired. A few ideas:
- On
esim.activated, send a "you're connected — here's how to top up" message. - On
order.failed, alert your team before the customer notices. - On
esim.expired, send a thank-you and a discount for the next trip.
Pass your own order number as customer_ref when you order, so any ticket can be matched to the right eSIM in seconds. The API integration guide covers the details.
Organise your team
Add support staff as team members with the user role and keep admin rights for whoever manages billing and settings; email two-factor sign-in protects every account. When you need help yourself, open a support ticket with screenshots in the Business Panel, or contact your named account manager by email or WhatsApp — they usually reply within one business day.

Frequently asked questions
Do my customers contact eSIM Signal for support?
No. Your customers are yours: they contact you, and you contact your account manager or open a ticket in the Business Panel if you need help.
Can I refund a customer's eSIM?
If the eSIM was never installed, you can refund it to your partner balance within the refund window. Installed or used eSIMs cannot be refunded.
Can customers top up the same eSIM?
Yes, where top-ups are available for that package. Use the Business Panel or the top-up endpoints in the API.
Will my customers see eSIM Signal branding?
No. Partner eSIMs use a neutral install page, and the QR code can carry your own colour and logo.
How do I find a customer's eSIM quickly?
Search by ICCID in the Business Panel, or pass your own order number as customer_ref when ordering through the API so you can match tickets instantly.
