About eSIM
What is an eSIM, and how does it work?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM card that allows you to activate a cellular plan without needing a physical SIM card. It works just like a regular SIM card but is built directly into your device, allowing you to connect to mobile networks by downloading a carrier profile.
Which devices are compatible with eSIMs?
Most phones from 2018 onwards: every iPhone from the XS and XR, Google Pixel 3 and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, every Z Fold and Z Flip, and many OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Honor, Motorola and Sony models. Our Device Compatibility page has the full list — and dialling *#06# shows an EID number on any phone that supports eSIM.
Does my phone need to be unlocked?
Yes. A phone locked to one carrier can't use another network's eSIM. If you bought your phone on a contract, ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel.
Can I use an eSIM and a physical SIM card simultaneously?
Yes, most eSIM-compatible devices allow you to use both an eSIM and a physical SIM card at the same time. This enables you to have two phone numbers or data plans on one device, useful for separating work and personal usage or for traveling.
Buying & installing
How do I purchase and activate an eSIM?
Choose your destination and plan, sign in or create an account, and pay. Within minutes you'll receive an email with an install button and a QR code: tap the button on the phone itself, or scan the code from another screen, and follow the steps on your phone.
How quickly will I receive my eSIM?
Within a few minutes of payment. We email you an install button and a QR code, and the eSIM is also waiting for you in My Account → My eSIMs.
Should I install the eSIM before I travel?
Yes — install it at home while you're on Wi-Fi, so you're online the moment you land. When you arrive, turn on the eSIM line, set it as your mobile data line and switch on data roaming for it. Our installation guide shows every step.
When does my plan start?
For most plans, the days start counting the first time the eSIM connects to a network at your destination — not when you buy it — so buying early costs you nothing. We still recommend installing it shortly before your trip and using it within 30 days of purchase.
Can I get one eSIM for multiple countries?
Yes. Our regional plans cover many countries with a single eSIM — Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas and more — and our Global plans work across the world.
Do you offer unlimited data plans?
Yes — most destinations have unlimited plans. If you're not sure how much data you'll need, an unlimited plan keeps you connected without watching your usage. As on any network, very heavy use may be slowed down under the network's fair-use policy.
Can I buy eSIMs for family or friends?
Yes. Choose how many eSIMs you need at checkout — up to 5 in one order. Each phone needs its own eSIM, and each one comes with its own install link and QR code.
Using your eSIM
Can I use my eSIM when traveling internationally?
Yes, eSIMs are perfect for international travel. You can purchase an eSIM with a local data plan before you travel, avoiding expensive roaming charges. Once in your destination country, your eSIM will automatically connect to the local network.
Will I get a phone number? Can I make calls?
Our travel eSIMs are data-only: they don't include a local number for regular calls or SMS. Call and message over WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram or any other app. Your usual SIM stays in the phone, so your own number can still receive calls and texts.
Can I use my eSIM to create a mobile hotspot?
Yes, you can use your eSIM to create a mobile hotspot if your device supports this feature. Go to your device's settings, enable the mobile hotspot option, and configure it as needed. This will allow other devices to connect to the internet through your eSIM's data plan.
How can I check my eSIM data usage?
You can monitor your eSIM data usage directly on your device and also from your account on our website. Just click 'My Account' login and there you will see all the details for your purchased eSIMs.
What happens if I run out of data?
We email you when you've used 80% of your data. You can top up the same eSIM in a few taps from My eSIMs — the new data is added to the eSIM you already have, with no reinstall. You can also turn on auto top-up to refill it automatically when it drops below 10%.
How do I remove or delete an eSIM from my device?
To remove an eSIM, go to your device's mobile network settings, select the eSIM profile, and choose the option to delete or remove it. Keep in mind that once deleted, the eSIM cannot be reactivated, and you'll need to contact your provider for a new one if needed.
Payments & refunds
Which payment methods do you accept?
Credit and debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay on supported devices, and PayPal. Prices are in euros and you pay once — there is no subscription. Any account credit or cashback is applied automatically at checkout.
Can I get a refund?
An eSIM that has been activated can't be refunded. Before activation, we can refund duplicate orders, a wrong plan picked by mistake, or an eSIM that never reached you — contact us within 24 hours of purchase. Whatever happened, write to us and we'll find the best solution for you.
Is there an eSIM Signal app?
Yes — download eSIM Signal from the App Store or Google Play to buy, install and keep track of your eSIMs on the go, with 5% cashback on every purchase in the app.
